The statement in support of Directive 2010/63/EU has been now signed by 213 organisations, including FENS.

On the 10 November the European Animal Research Association (EARA) published a Statement on behalf of leading biomedical research organisations, learned societies, industry representatives, universities and patient groups in Europe in support of the Directive 2010/63/EU.

The statement has now been signed by 213 organisations, including FENS, which is with its Committee on Animal in Research (CARE) a member of EARA.

This joint statement sends a strong signal from the scientific community and other stakeholders to prevent any worsening of the current situation.

EARA will continue to collect signatories during 2016 as the Commission collects information for the review, and it starts its social media campaign called #Support201063EU, which includes images comparing the number of signatories per country.

FENS promotes and advocates for the responsible use of animals for neuroscience and biomedical research. As a signatory of the statement, FENS is fully committed in supporting the European Directive 2010/63/EU (“Directive”) on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes.
