OVERVIEW

This is a two-part science communication event, which will take place as follows:

Tuesday 24 August

Organised as a satellite workshop, this event will allow 12 pre-selected participants to receive feedback on their science communication projects from a team of coaches. After the workshop, six participants will be selected to go into phase 2 and compete to receive funding.

Wednesday 25 August

Organised as a Special Interest Event, this event will see the six selected participants from phase 1 pitch their project to a jury. The best three projects (one / category) will be awarded with a EUR 1,000 grant to fund their project.

PROJECT CATEGORIES

Competing projects must belong to one of the following groups:

  • online science communication I
  • online science communication II
  • science communication for younger audiences

PARTICIPANTS

This workshop is open to all neuroscientists or representatives from neuroscience research institutions, laboratories or partner organisations. All participants must be registered to the FENS Regional Meeting 2021 (registration is waived for FENS members).

COACHES

There will be one team of coaches per category. Each team of coaches is composed of:

  • one coach to provide guidance to participants on matters related to each category
  • one coach with expertise in effective presentation techniques

JURY

The jury will select the best project according to the selection criteria.
